Rendering at the edge, one request at a time
Traditional server rendering happens in one region. Every visitor, wherever they are, waits for a round trip to that region before the first byte arrives.
Rendering on Cloudflare Workers moves that work to the data centre that received the request. Personalised pages, such as the location-aware home page of this site, no longer have to choose between being dynamic and being fast.
The fastest round trip is the one you don't make.
The trade-off is that your data has to be reachable from everywhere. Batched upstream requests, caches and regional databases do most of that work.
